New Years Resolution Update No.1

I thought it would be a good idea to write an update monthly of how I am doing in keeping up with my new years resolutions as most of them are meant to take place over a long period of time :)

1. To get a 2:1 in all my assessments at University - I recently got an assignment back that I handed in early this month, and I got a high 2:1 which is like a 68? I was so proud of myself, because I struggled with this essay & found the concept/structure confusing! So imagine my excitement when I got such a good mark! Very happy!

2. Re-learn an instrument - Now this is something that I haven't had time to do, and I think I'll be most likely to accomplish it over the summer. Now my summer technically begins mid May, so it's almost half way through the year, but at the moment I do not have the time commitment to an instrument that is required to re-learn how to play! I was walking through university today and heard someone playing the piano so beautifully, and I got a flutter in my stomach and thought how incredible it would be to be able to play the piano, so considering my boyfriend wants to learn the piano again this year, I might jump on his bandwagon :)

3. Learn Japanese - Once again, this is going to be one of those resolutions I get around to in Summer when I have more time. Now between work, I do university work and read to relax, where as in Summer I'll just be working, so won't have any more commitments which means more time for activities! Yay!

4. Get Healthy - Now I have been very stressed this month, not a major excuse but it's reality. I try very well to eat healthy meals, unfortunately my boyfriend & I have been out for dinner a few times this month & makes it very difficult to eat healthy in Fridays! But most of my meals have been good, I just tend to stress eat and snack when I'm working. What I've done this week is introduce new healthier snacks that I found reading about the Harcombe diet. Now thats something I found really interesting, but would not be a reality at this time in my life. When I'm at university, it's difficult to find a meal that doesn't include bread or potatoes...?? Except for salad obviously, but I hate salad, so let's not go down that route! Yes, so I'm working on healthier snacks & eating less snacks this month, and going to the gym about 3 times a week at least. Last week, I had a lot going on so think I only went once. But to be honest, at least I went, and I think I did Zumba in between work sessions! Getting there slowly!

5. Read two books per month! - Now this is something I have been loving! I'm currently reading the Song of Fire & Ice series, I'm on Feast for Crows book, I think thats what it's called & I think it's number 5 out of like 9 haha. It's very thick so it's taking me a while thats why I havent read more this month but I am half way through it and loving it! Definitely spending my relaxing time for reading!

6. Go to America - Me & my boyfriend were planning to go to New York for my 21st Birthday, but unfortunately we've been told that our graduation ceremony takes place on the actual day of my birthday. It's a nightmare, so we're not going to be able to go till about September, if we do at all! As we're trying to be realistic regarding saving and money, if you go to New York, you're going shopping, and it would be hard to save as much as I'd want to spend even by then! We'll have to see how things go!

7. Try new food - I havent had any chance to try any new foods yet! But this week, we are going to attempt to make our own pizzas! Hopefully this will seem indulgent but will be more healthy! We're also going to make chilli con carne this week, which I've only had a couple of times, and also we bought lots of chicken to make new meals with :) we're trying to eat more fresh meat than processed!

So that's my update on how I'm getting on with my resolutions! I am very proud that I have been able to keep up with a few of them, and what I'm most proud of this year so far is my skin care routine! I never really had one before, but I put mine in place around Christmas time, and now I absolutely love it! Am so happy & my skin is too!

Hope you enjoyed this post & you're keeping up with your resolutions too!
